russian language course in russia
french, russian, and chinese – which language should i continue learning?

my french background – four years of high school courses, starting from 7th grade. so far, i can do basics and im advancing very far in my class

russian background – have been learning it from two close friends who’ve been to college in russia, and im very interested in it. i still dont know the basics, but its more immersive for me than french

chinese – i speak chinese fluently, but i can’t read or write it. i dont like learning how to, either.

i’m turning into a junior next year, and will take up a language course again. which one should i do?

Since I am assuming that you are a native English-speaker, I will tell you that learning Russian and Chinese is much more difficult than French. Russian uses Cyrillic, and Chinese uses its own characters, while French uses your natural roman characters. You won’t be able to read, write or learn using writing in Russian. Also, non-western languages use different speaking conventions (Example: the word “the” does not exist in russian), so it will be more difficult to learn. Also, in Russian, there are dozens of sounds that an English-speaker can’t make (ditto on Chinese). French is overall your best choice.
