Vettel Takes F1 World Championship

It was revealing about the nature of this year’s championship that James Allen picked up on the fact that, in spite of Vettel not once leading the championship he was out on top at the end. An interesting stat that showed how close the top 5 drivers really were throughout the championship.

2010 really was on a knife edge, that was evident from the fact that there were four drivers all with a chance of taking the championship at the final race, a feat that hasn’t occurred since 1960. Whether this was achieved through the new points system or the fact that every driver made mistakes along the way, it certainly made 2010 one of the most exciting seasons ever.

Sebastain Vettel is the youngest ever F1 world champion, stealing the crown from Lewis Hamilton who previously held the record, taking the 2008 World Championship. Vettel probably only recently got temporary car insurance on his first motor and soon after found himself in title contention. The championship was well fought and came to Vettel despite critical driver errors and mechanical failures earlier in the year.

Alsono was incensed after the race, not with his team who seemingly couldn’t even perform the task of getting a short term van insurance quote after making poor strategy decisions, but with Russian driver Vitaly Petrov who Alosno failed to pass for most of the race. Webber will be even more frustrated with himself after failing to finish any higher than eight, having looked a shoe-in for the championship a few races ago.

Hamilton faced the least pressure of the four, he had to win the race to take the title which he could have done had he not been held up behind back markers. Lewis will live to regret his poor run in the final 3rd of the season.

One thing is for sure, if next season is anything like this one we are in for a treat, and the driver had better make sure they have short term car insurance on their cars!
