How to get a diploma without french in Montreal? Will I eventually have to learn French to live comfortably?
I’m born and raised in Montreal and because of my elementary school and some bad parent decisions, I speak nearly no french at all. Currently, to make matters worse, I’m unable to get my high school diploma because of this; even though I have passed every other course and have a passing general average on my report card.
There are a few reasons why learning french for me will be difficult. The first being I’m a complete novice to the language, I have zero interest in french, I find learning other languages particularly difficult, and also it is something that has to be upkept or else you’ll forget it. So basically choosing to learn the language is a big decision for me. I love Montreal and it’s culture but I was raised english and entirely without french.
So how can I get my diploma? Is there a way of getting it without french? Maybe I can move to Ontario for a year or so and stay with a friend to complete my final year. Think it’s possible?
Tough break. Really French is a pointless language to learn if your not living in France. Even in Canada French is pointless. You would be better off learning Spanish or Chinese as a second language.
