Peaceful Parts of London

The capital city of the UK is one of the planet’s most popular tourist destinations, it has thousands of first rate cheap hotels London-wide, dozens of excellent museums and art galleries, and of course the amazing history and architecture for which the city is so renowned, it’s a wonderful location to pass a short break, or a longer vacation.

If you’re spending all your time sightseeing, it often get pretty tiring, and one might feel the need for a short break to gather your energies.

One option is to head to the British Museum, it’s free to enter, but the cafes are a touch pricey. Nonetheless, more or less once every fortnight you can watch a Japanese tea ceremony for no charge in room 92.

Another, extremely cultural, possibility is a lunch time recital. The city is fantastic for fans of classical music, though it can get quite costly. Nonetheless, there are hidden places around the city (often churches) where you can listen to a brief fifty minute performance for the price of a little donation.

If you’re looking for the typically British tea and  scone, you’re going to have to part with quite a lot in one of London’s famous five star hotels. There are, however, a number of excellent tea shops that are certainly worth the cost (it’s not much) and are sure to provide just as good quality. Try out Spitalfields tea room Tea Smith.

For a break on a hot day, why not head to Covent Garden for a first class Italian ice cream and some light entertainment in the shape of Covent Garden’s famous buskers. Alternatively, head for Chalk Farm for some traditional Italian ice-creams from Marine Ices.

Finally, if you want a sugar fix, then you’ve got to go to Mrs Kibble’s Olde Sweet Shoppe in Soho, it’s known throughout London for offering delicious sweets for excellent prices.

One of the great things about London is that wherever you are, you’re certain to encounter a unique place to relax for a moment or regain your energies for further sightseeing, and that’s why it’s such a great city.
