Education In Canada Facts

Like most advanced countries education in Canada is the responsibility of the government. This education is then sub categorized into different levels like federal, provincial and the local. The syllabus or curriculum execution in Canada is usually done by the Provincial governments as this country is not a single unit administered federally but has several provinces. Education levels start from primary, secondary to post-secondary, pre-university and finally university level.

Education in Canada occupies 7% of GDP.  Basically, the study year in Canada begins from September till June, covering around 190 days. Canadian government supports the education from grade 1 to 12. The age till which education is compulsory is 16 (18 in New Brunswick and Ontario).

However, the foreign students are required to clear either IELTS or TOEFL for getting an admission into a Canadian university having English medium of instruction. The admission schedule and the fee structure may vary depending upon the Canadian university and the study program you are opting. Good news for foreign students is that they can either transfer certificates from their home country to Canada or take credits from here to their native educational degree.
