Is learning japanese online a good idea or will i waste my time?
I’ve always wanted to learn japanese. I’m determined and am willing to spend time studying it, but will i be able to speak and understand it when im done? And how hard will it be to learn?
And I just want to learn to speak and understand writing isn’t as important to me
It’s not impossible to do. There are several good resources out there that are built for listening and speaking practice. If you haven’t checked this place out, give them a try:
http://www.japanesepod101.com
They offer podcasts in a variety of skill levels. The lessons are kind of similar to the Pimsleur listen & speak series, and they can really help get you going with speaking the language.
People learn languages using all sorts of different methods, and no one method is uniformly “the best”. It depends on each individual’s goals, motivations, and learning style. I’d say give it a try, as you have nothing to lose! If you start to get more serious about the language, then you might want to get yourself a textbook, find a class, and find some Japanese friends or conversation partners to put what you’ve learned to practice.
