The Mysterious Dog Painting
Showcasing the talent of local thespians, the innocents finally raised its curtains. And once you look at the set, there is a portrait, the subject of many strange tales. Someone who chooses to be unknown had held on to this portrait for years. She was traveling down the street when the picture in a shop window caught her eye and for some reason, still unknown to the owner she parked her car, went into the shop, and bought the picture. Even as she thought of how she can possibly afford it, she still stayed there waiting for the clerk to hand it to her. It’s almost time for the children to go back to school and books, clothes, and school supplies are to be bought. So she rehearsed in her mind what she was going to tell the saleslady, that even if she found the picture so pretty, she could not take if for she just can’t afford it. Before the attendant could return the portrait, the lady shrieked about how badly she wanted and had to get that painting.
With that she paid the clerk, took the picture, and walked out of the antique shop totally unsure as to why she bought a picture that she could ill afford at the time and certainly was going to present a problem trying to explain to her husband her strange compulsion to buy the picture. There was no exact date on the painting but it can be surmised that it was done in the late 1800′s or early 1900′s, and it featured a Russian wolfhound known as a Borzoi, with oil as its medium. Someone who has been trained well when it comes to the Borzoi, he will certainly wonder why this picture, even with its immense beauty is odd since the painter only showed the dog’s shoulders and head, and done in almost straight on pose. It is also easy to see that the shoulders and chest are not proportioned precisely.
It was a strange fact that the woman, whose eyes were expertly trained of how a Borzoi should appear and knew so much about the breed, still went ahead and purchased it. Contrary to what she thought, her husband blowing up as he arrived home that evening and found her to have purchased that painting which hung in their wall, he shared instead about how he was so allured by it, the same attraction his wife had felt. Many experts and amateurs of photography have chosen this as their subject and yet there never was an instance when two photographs came out alike. There are occasions when the dog portrait would show a spectral face on its right side, then at some times it would look flat then 3 dimensional in others, but at most times, whether the portrait would appear as either black and white or in full color, strange lights would seem to emanate from it.

A large ceramic plate that was on the wall suddenly fell without breaking, not even a crack in sight, and this was a mystery indeed.
The Innocents play producer director approached the couple who were very happy to loan the portrait to him after he explained that this would be great on his set, as the story he was doing is about the supernatural. Together, the couple openly discussed with the producer of the Innocents that they feel that the portrait was able to make something unknown come into their home the day they got it, and he might be able to help them realize what this when he uses this for his local stage play.
