English course in Montreal … Is this a bad decision?
Hello, I'm going to Montreal this summer to attend the Intensive English Program at McGill. But everyone keeps saying the same things: ".. Why did you choose to learn English Montreal French-speaking people you will have problems when trying to speak English in Montreal "I like to go to Montreal, but they are true? Thanks.
Based on your name and choice of vocabulary, you suspect that your first language is French, and if so, you may have some problems with people speaking English with you (apart from his teacher and students class whose first language is French – it can be a good number). But if you have a strong European French accent, can only speak English as soon you. If you do not speak French, Montreal is a great place to learn English because a) it is a great place, time and b) as someone mentioned, there are plenty of good teachers and English-learning resources. If your first language is actually French, can still succeed and I have some suggestions: try to get an English-speaking or English-learning (But not French) roommate, and try to live in Westmount, NDG, or Montreal-West – they're not as English as the Island of the West, but that are a little more action.
