College credits can be earned by high school students

Advanced classes give high school students a good start toward your college and degrees. These courses, AP courses, as is commonly known, save students money and time, allowing them to obtain typical first-year courses as English Composition completed before graduating from high school.

The schools have the option of more than 30 courses AP to offer, and might not necessarily offer English Composition. Courses are available from the College Board, non-profit and in cases in which universities require that students take English Composition, the course of AP when available can be a good option. In some cases, English Composition may be associated with a large student study area. Even if not, the skills that students acquire in the course can be beneficial in most if not all, of their college courses. In Composition in English, or ENC 1101, students learn reading and writing they need in their lives and future careers.

When the course is said to emphasize writing in different formats, such as argumentative and persuasive, the field of literature is much more focused on reading and analyzing different works of literature. In the literature course, students can read everything from fiction to drama and poetry, and expository prose, including works of Elizabeth Bishop, William Shakespeare, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Virginia Woolf and John Updike.

For the AP course in English Composition to qualify for University and college credit, students must pass an examination on the issue. The tests are multiple choice and open questions, and students are generally provided with three hours to complete. AP courses are graded on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the equivalent of a "F" or a recommendation does not, and that represent 5 "A" or very well qualified.
