Are there any courses for real estate at university in NSW?
I’m 15 and in year 10 at school. Lots of people have told me that I only need TAFE to start a career in real estate. I’d prefer to go to university because of heaps of reasons. I’ve been looking on the net for courses for real estate at unis but I can’t find any. I’ve decided that if there aren’t any university courses I might aswell drop out after this year and go to TAFE. I don’t see any point in staying for year 11 and 12 if I’m gonna go to TAFE anyway and I don’t see the use of learning the subjects I’ve chosen for next year (chemistry, anc/mod history, adv english, visual arts and business). Business and English are probably the only ones that would be useful to me…
Any advice? :S
There’s a lot more to real estate than you might think.
Chemistry can be relevant. With all the environmental regulations and considerations in real estate, a familiarity with it will help you know what they are talking about.
English is important. You have no idea of the number of contracts I see that are difficult to decipher because the English is so poor. If I can’t understand it, a Judge probably won’t take the time to, and guess what that means? It’s unenforeceable.
Now, here’s another tidbit I’ve learned from twenty years in real estate. You’ll find it almost impossible to make a living at it if you’ve never owned any.
If you’ve never done what you’re clients are doing, they’ll know it, and get someone else to help them.
You might want to put “owning a home” on your list of things to prepare you for a real estate career, ahead of getting a license. Gonna be hard to do that without finishing High School.
